INdividual therapy

Dr. Samantha Gaies takes a holistic, integrative approach to helping people in order to ensure that her works takes each unique individual into consideration. More than 15 years ago, Dr. Gaies began incorporating Eastern psychological principles into her training and practice. During her APA-accredited doctoral program, in addition to traditional training in psychodynamic theories, interpersonal techniques, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dr. Gaies trained extensively in mindfulness meditation techniques, self-compassion practices, hypnotherapy, and Eastern traditions. Dr. Gaies participates in ongoing trainings in mindfulness, self-compassion, hypnosis, and other integrative health approaches to remain informed about new research and theories in order to offer the best in mental health care.

Dr. Gaies believes the therapeutic relationship is paramount to any successful therapy, so she works to create a framework for an open, safe, authentic, and collaborative environment for every patient. Because all therapeutic relationships are unique, Dr. Gaies helps each patient build an individualized plan that combines mindfulness, interpersonal exploration, behavioral and acceptance techniques, psychodynamic principles, guided imagery, meditation, and/or hypnotherapy.

By blending these modalities, Dr. Gaies caters to each patient’s personal needs in order to reach specific therapeutic goals. Though she works with a broad range of presenting concerns, she specializes in anxiety/stress, life transitions/career changes, insomnia/sleep problems, infertility/pregnancy/postpartum support, relationship concerns/couples therapy, eating disorders/emotional eating, trauma, and grief/loss.
